The Founder Story

As both a business owner and consumer, I’ve become increasingly frustrated with how ideology has infiltrated the workplace. I've watched companies pressure employees about their political views, social causes, and even private health decisions. Businesses that should be focused on productivity and service are turning into forums for activism. And brands increasingly feel compelled to virtue signal popular messages, even when it means alienating a significant portion of their customer base.

On a personal level, this hit home when my wife’s medical residency program went beyond teaching medicine. The leadership instructed residents on how they should feel about certain societal issues, even suggesting which protests the residents should attend. My wife, like many others, felt afraid to disagree—fearing that speaking her mind might jeopardize her career. She told me, “I just have to keep quiet and nod my head.”

But it didn’t stop there. Senior residents conducting interviews were instructed to choose the new class based on quotas, not merit. I watched in disbelief as objectively less-qualified candidates (doctors!) were being accepted to the program in order to meet identity-based “hiring goals”. This wasn’t just frustrating—it was dangerous

The more I spoke with other business owners, the more I realized I wasn’t alone. Leaders everywhere feel like they’re walking on eggshells, worried that one wrong word or decision could trigger politically-correct backlash and ruin their reputation and livelihood. Workplaces have become battlegrounds for social and political agendas, when they should be places where good people come together to build, create, and succeed.

That’s why I founded Common Sense Certified (CSC)—a way to identify the businesses that are serious about delivering results, serving customers with respect, and maintaining a non-political professional workplace.

CSC is more than just a certification—it’s a movement. It signals to customers, employees, and partners that your business is grounded, principled, and focused on what really matters.

As a Common Sense Company, you’re part of a community that values merit, accountability, and professionalism. For consumers, CSC offers a trusted way to find and support businesses that align with their values.

At CSC, we’re getting back to basics: exceptional service, measurable results, and common-sense values that stand the test of time. If you feel the same way I do, you belong here. Let’s build something special.
